Our Story
BlockWave was incorporated in November 2021 in Athens by Stavros Kontos (born 1985, ex-Maersk supply-chain product lead, eight years in Copenhagen and Singapore) and Mei Lin Chen (born 1988, ex-IBM Blockchain core engineer, six years in Yamato Logistics Tokyo). They met in 2019 at a Hyperledger Global Forum panel in Phoenix where Stavros, then a customer, asked a question that took the panel ten minutes to answer; Mei Lin caught him in the hallway after and said the honest answer would have taken thirty seconds. They started corresponding, built a prototype on weekends through 2020, and incorporated in 2021 with €1.2M of seed funding from Marathon Venture Capital (Athens) and Speedinvest (Vienna).
